DTCC FAQs

What are the costs for using DTCC services and how will they be provided? top

The DTCC offers a variety of services in data management, biostatics, study logistics and communications. Once your research project has been registered with the RTRN Program Manager, he will coordinate your initial contact with the DTCC. You will be instructed to complete a request for cost proposal form, and your project lead will contact you to discuss the costs outlined in the proposal. At that point, the researcher/team will work directly with the DTCC to obtain and manage the specified services.

Who should I contact for more information about the DTCC’s services? top

You can visit the return web site for comprehensive information about the DTCC as well as the entire network. or contact the dtcc program coordinator at 601.979.0332 for additional information

Does the DTCC support research projects that are not clinical studies/trials? top

Yes, the DTCC provides services that can be utilized by research teams in basic, behavioral science as well as clinical studies.

If the database is hosted by DTCC what happens to the data at the end of the study? Can the site have it back? top

All the data housed by the DTCC remains the property of the PI/site. Upon the completion of a study/project, the DTCC will return data files to the PI/site

Can the DTCC assist with itemizing the pre-clinical and Investigational New Drug (IND) requirements for a product for FDA submission? top

Yes. The DTCC’s Clinical Data Services Division can provide direction for accomplishing this type of task.

Can the DTCC integrate small datasets into one larger dataset? top

Yes.  The DTCC’s Clinical Data Services Division can provide direction for accomplishing this type of task

What statistical support is available through the DTCC? top

Go to www.rtrn.net to learn about the network’s statistical services as well as other services available through the DTCC

Why should I use the RTRN Portal? top

The RTRN Portal is a secure, virtual environment that allows researchers to safely share and transmit sensitive information. The RTRN Portal is one of the resources available to researchers to enhance their collaborative efforts. Researchers are provided a unique user ID and password to access the portal from any computer location. The Portal is an ideal environment for posting, editing and reviewing documents/information pertinent to the research teams’ project. The DTCC offers weekly trainings to familiarize researchers with the portal and its functionalities.

Is the information processed at the DTCC secure? top

RTRN, through the DTCC, provides a secure, sophisticated computerized network and infrastructure that has multiple forms of physical and electronic security including: multiple firewalls, real-time intrusion detection systems, and network based virus, vandal scanning, prevention systems, and multiple levels of physical access control.

Safety and privacy limitations, the individual project research team, and the Steering Committee determine the depth of RTRN project data available through this portal. The data available to the general scientific public and the RTRN investigators may have different levels. The RTRN scientific community may have additional access due to their research needs, contingent upon pre-specified privacy restrictions.

Safety of human subjects will be given the highest priority in RTRN research projects. In addition to the many layers of protection afforded to participants through adherence to NIH and federal guidelines, institutional review processes and approval requirements, and oversight by the investigators and research staff, the research subject advocate (RSA) for each RCMI CRC will be involved in RTRN studies.

A Data Safety and Monitoring Committee (DSMC) will be established for relevant trials to periodically review study results in relations to participant safety and to provide the study investigators, the RTRN Steering Committee, and NCRR program office with frequent updates on the progress of studies in the RTRN.

Where is the DTCC located? top

The DTCC is located in the Mississippi e-Center at Jackson State University and has over 6,500 square feet of dedicated space with redundant high-speed internet connections and Network infrastructure.

How will the DTCC handle copyright issues of these publications, since the Copyrights are often owned by the publishing company? top

Copyrights of new materials will be owned by the DTCC or shared by the DTCC and partnering institutions if pre-negotiated prior to starting of study. Anything owned by a publishing company will not be stored by the DTCC unless approved by the publisher. If approval is not given, there will be a link to the publishing company.
