About Us

Introduction

The JHS is the largest single-site longitudinal, population-based, cohort study of 5,302 personsParticipant initiated in the fall of 2000 to prospectively investigate the determinants of CVD among African Americans in the Jackson, MS metropolitan statistical area.

Aims

The goal is to facilitate translational research for RCMI collaborators across the network using large data sets. The primary rationale for RTRN DCC seeking this collaborative relationship with JHS is that the fundamental goals of RTRN are in harmony with the specific aims of JHS.

Role of DCC

Liaison to JHS: RTRN DCC will serve as the liaison institution of RTRN and be the home of the RTRN JHS Vanguard Center. DCC is a logical choice given that JSU is the home of the DCC for RTRN and also it is a partnering JHS institution, same as University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), which one of the current five JHS Vanguard Centers.

Services Provided by DCC

Significance
