The Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Translational Research Network (RTRN) is a collaborative consortium that facilitates innovative inter-institutional and multi-disciplinary translational research to generate evidence-based new knowledge and techniques to diagnose, prevent, and treat a host of diseases that are Healthy People 2010 priorities.
Integrating clinical, biomedical, and behavioral researchers at the 18 RCMI grantee institutions with health care providers and community leaders into novel geographically and demographically diverse research partnerships enhances the collective potential to improve patient outcomes.
This consortium of academic researchers from diverse disciplines and their community partners with unique backgrounds creates a rich tapestry of knowledge, skills and resources to develop interventions that improve the health of populations that are disproportionately affected by health disparities.
RTRN's conceptual design builds upon the translational model which demonstrates the movement from bench to bedside and from bedside to public health practice and back.
