Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU), College of Medicine (COM), seeks an experienced, community-­‐oriented Family Medicine Program Director and researcher to develop and lead a unique community-­‐engaged Family Medicine Residency Training and research program focused on the complex health needs of the neighborhoods of South Los Angeles. CDU is a private non-­‐profit

student-­‐centered University that is committed to cultivating diverse health professional leaders who are dedicated to finding cures, making contributions to social justice, and health equity for underserved populations through outstanding education, research, clinical service, and community engagement. In partnership with CDU’s Urban Health Institute (UHI), our goal is to produce clinician and researchers

who are leaders in building innovative evidence-­‐based interventions focused on eliminating health care disparities and the achievement of health equity. To complete its medical education pipeline, the university is developing graduate medical education programs responsive to the needs of the underserved patients in the community.

Education Qualifications

•   Candidates must have an MD Degree

•   Completion of an ACGME-­‐accredited Family Medicine residency;

•   Current board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and current

medical licensure in the state of California.

 

Experience Qualifications

•   Five years’ experience as a practicing Family Medicine physician;

•   Two years’ experience as core faculty member in an ACGME-­‐accredited Family Medicine Residency Program;

•   Demonstrated leadership in teaching, experience in community-­‐engaged health care research;

•   An entrepreneurial spirit to engage collaborators within and outside the university and to attract

highly qualified and committed trainees and faculty;

•   Knowledge and experience in an integrated care (primary care and mental health) setting;

•   Track record of building affiliations with community partners and clinical sites to create unique

training experiences;

•   Established active research agenda and demonstrated research productivity;

•   Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
