Assistant Professor – Experimental Biomaterials

 

The Department of Physics at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Experimental Biomaterials beginning August 2017. We seek candidates with experience in (a) the synthesis of inorganic materials (including nanomaterials) capable of interacting with biomolecules and other biological systems and (b) the study of these interactions and their effects on the functionality of the system. In addition, preference will be given to applicants whose research has potential for applications in biomedicine. Outstanding candidates in other areas of biomaterials will be considered.

The selected candidate is expected to develop and maintain an independent, externally funded on-campus research program involving students; work closely with the Border Biomedical Research Center at UTEP; teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels; perform service to the Department, College and University; and engage in outreach activities. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline, possess postdoctoral experience, have a record of research accomplishments, have teaching experience at least at the Teaching Assistant level, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
