Community

Community input is essential to RTRN activities. RTRN recognizes the importance of addressing barriers that prevent participation in research studies by minority groups. Therefore, translational research clusters are encouraged to establish a forum for continuous discussion regarding the needs of the participants as well as methods for improved “bedside” manner. By keeping the community informed and involved, RTRN is building an environment for truthful and honest disclosure that can ultimately aid in the discovery of impacting health factors. This proactive approach supports community-based involvement employing participatory methods that can produce positive health outcomes, community empowerment and sustainable interventions for improving health disparities in disadvantaged communities.

Community representatives from each clinical research center will participate in relevant RTRN activities. And, broader community participation has been added through the community engagement cluster.
