Community-Based Participatory Research Cluster

The community-based participatory research (CBPR) cluster enhances the Network's ability to effectively translate basic and clinical research findings to community and public health practice by ensuring that the communities being served by RTRN are involved with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the research and by assisting RTRN researchers to maximize their participant recruitment efforts.

Community participatory research cluster helps to ensure appropriate community participation in all phases of translational research and establish representation in all RTRN translational research clusters. The CBPR also provides technical assistance to RTRN research projects with regard to participant recruitment and dissemination of research findings and information. Additionally, the CPR will provide training to health disparities researchers working with minority communities to overcome barriers in collaborative community participatory research.

Objectives

To maintain community partnerships that support collaborative development and implementation of research projects.
To implement a "community-focused" health research agenda that capitalizes on established relationships with the community to advance translational research targeting the priority RTRN disease areas.
