Position Summary The Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Immunology(MBI) at Morehouse School of Medicine(MSM)
invites applications for a full-time assistant/associate professor
position in Biomedical Informatics/Data Science/Big Data/Computational
Biology. Seeking highly collaborative candidates with basic science
background, and at least two years of current translational research
experience in big data modelling and health disparities, and expertise in
analysis of omics, including but not limited to genomics, proteomics, or
metabolomics; imaging or other large biological datasets. In addition,
candidates must have a terminal degree(preferably in computer science
related field) with at least two years of current translational research
experience in bioinformatics, teaching and mentoring.

The anticipated appointment date is Fall 2020 or earlier. The
successful candidate will support our new big data and biorepository
efforts, support our investigators and database developers in implementing
software and biorepository efforts, support our investigators and database
developers in implementing software and data exchange formats that are
standards-compliant, ensure data consistency of biomedical
informatics-managed external data from research labs at MSM and work with local, national and international
collaborators to develop and extend existing ontological architectures and
standards expertise in big data. The candidate will also support our pilot
to large grant-supported efforts, teaching, and mentoring junior
investigators. This faculty will also help establish a bioinformatics
research laboratory that will support postdoctoral fellows and technical
assistants.

Minimum Qualifications Ph.D or equivalent degree.

Postdoctoral research experience, and a strong record of research
accomplishments.
